GETTING STARTED

RUNNING THE PROGRAM

1. Set the screen resolution to 800 x 600.

2. Start the program by clicking on any of its icons or on its entry in the Start Menu.

VIEWING THE DEMOS

1. In the Help menu, select Demos,

2. Choose from the list that appears.

OR

• View the list of demos.

PLAYING THE EXAMPLE FILE

• In the Help menu, select Example(s),

OR

1. On the menu bar, select File,

2. On the File menu, select Open,

3. In the Open File dialogue box select Example.ser (do not select a Example program with any other extension except ".ser").   The Example program will open,

4. On the Main window tool bar, select Play.

5. On the task bar, select the open window button for "Main - Patterns in Music".

The program will play after a delay (which can be long on older computers).
Clicking the open window buttons in the task bar will display the important windows of the program.

OR

• Listen to the example file, without viewing the program screens.

EXAMPLE FILE ABSTRACTS

The files in the \abstracts directory show the elements of the Example file, Example.ser, in various configurations, eg. chords only, chords and bass line, phrases only etc.

UNINSTALLING THE PROGRAM

• Use the Add/Remove Programs function in the Control Panel

OR

1. Delete the Patterns in Music x.x.x directory,

2. Delete the entry in the Start Menu,

3. Delete the icon(s)  on the desktop and quicklaunch area, if any

4. No other action is required.

HELP

Help is available in any of three ways:

the F1 key	Help for the window that has focus
Scr Help	Help for the active window (screen). Available under the Help menu in the Main window and by button in every other window.
Item Help	Help for any item by clicking first on "Item Help" and then on the object in the GUI that you need help for. Available under the Help menu in the Main window and by button in every other window.

TROUBLESHOOTING

If your computer will not read the CD, the solution may be to download and install the UDF Reader from Adaptec.
